How to Fix E2, E3, E4 and E5 Error Codes on Your Icetubs Engine
When your Icetubs Engine displays an E2, E3, E4 or E5 error code, it usually indicates that the engine is operating outside its normal temperature range. This can be caused by high water temperature, overheating, freezing temperatures, restricted water flow, poor airflow, dust buildup or debris inside the system.
Please note that E4 can also appear in hot conditions and does not always mean that the engine or water is freezing.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Address E2, E3, E4 & E5 Errors
1. Power Down the Engine
First, turn off your Icetubs Engine immediately. Continuing to run the system while it is overheating, freezing or experiencing restricted flow puts unnecessary strain on the compressor and other components.
2. Drain the Water
Fully drain your Icetub. This removes water that may be too hot, too cold or close to freezing and allows the system to be restarted under normal conditions.
3. Move to a Suitable Environment
Relocate your Icetub and Engine if necessary:

Move indoors if the surrounding temperature is too hot or too cold.

Alternatively, move it to a shaded and sheltered outdoor area.

Ensure that the fan has enough open space to properly vent warm air. (50cm all around the engine except the engine connector area)
4. Refill with Room-Temperature Water
Refill the tub with room-temperature water.
Do not use ice-cold water and do not use hot water from a hose that has been sitting in direct sunlight. Room-temperature water allows the engine to stabilize and return to normal operating conditions more easily.
5. Flush the engine
Before attaching the filter, guide a water flow into the upper water connection. Flush the water through the engine until it returns into the bath through the lower water connection. This ensures no debris or air is stuck in the pump/water loop.
Confirm whether annual maintenance for the pump was done, as debris stuck inside of the pump can cause the specifically E2, E3 or the E4 error.
6. Reinstall or Replace the Filter
Reinstall the filter before restarting the engine.
If the filter is dirty, clogged or has been used for approximately one month, replace it with a new one. Restricted water flow caused by a clogged filter can contribute to E2, E3, E4 and E5 errors.
7. Restart the Engine
Turn the engine back on after refilling and reinstalling the filter. Monitor the system closely over the next hour to confirm that the error clears and that water is circulating normally.
Check the Engine Fan: Is Dust Buildup Blocking Airflow?
A clogged fan or radiator is another common cause of temperature-related errors. Dust and debris can reduce airflow, causing the engine to overheat or operate inefficiently.

Remove the side panels carefully.

Clear out dust or debris blocking the fan and radiator.
- Use a vacuum cleaner, compressed air or a soft brush.
- Make sure the fan can rotate freely before reinstalling the panels.
⚠️Important Notice About Freezing/Overheating Risks

The Icetubs Engine can withstand temperatures from -5°C (23°F) to 40°C (104°F). Below/Above that the engine must be disconnected, drained and stored inside.

If the surrounding temperature is colder than -5°C (23°F) or hotter than 40°C (104°F) for more than 24 hours, the risk of engine damage increases sharply.

If the water in your tub freezes/overheats during an error, it can permanently damage the engine voiding the warranty.
