Setting the Right Foundation for Your Icetub or IceSauna
🧱 Setting the Right Foundation for Your Icetub or IceSauna
Choosing the right location and surface for your Icetub or IceSauna is just as important as selecting the model itself. A proper foundation ensures safety, comfort, and long-lasting performance.
🏡 Choosing the Perfect Spot
Before you start prepping your garden for installation, make sure the area you’ve chosen has enough space. Whether you're setting up an IceBath XL, a Barrel XL with Stairs Kit, or an IceSauna, always double-check the dimensions first.
Once you've measured the area, it’s time to focus on the surface.
✅ What the Surface Needs
Your Icetub or IceSauna needs a stable, flat, and dry surface. These are heavy products — especially when filled with water:
-
Icetubs weigh between 500 kg and 830 kg
-
The IceSauna weighs around 500 kg and requires electricity
A solid, level surface prevents sinking, shifting, and damage to the structure. Avoid surfaces that allow water to pool underneath, as this can lead to wood damage or electrical concerns.
🔲 Option 1: Tiles or Paving Stones
One of the most popular and reliable options.
-
Easy to level and strong
-
Provides proper drainage
-
Matches most garden designs
Use tiles or pavers to create a flush surface at ground level or a raised terrace. This option works great for both the Icetub and IceSauna.
🌱 Option 2: Grass (With a Catch)
While a grassy spot may look beautiful, placing the unit directly on grass is not recommended. The weight will cause the unit to sink and trap moisture under the base.
Instead, install stone tiles or a small concrete platform just beneath the wooden base or floor frame. This blends the unit into the lawn without risking damage.
🪵 Option 3: Wooden Decking
A wooden deck adds a warm, spa-like feel to your wellness setup.
-
Keeps your unit elevated and dry
-
Visually separates the wellness area
-
Works well with both tubs and saunas
Important: For the IceSauna, the deck must be reinforced to support over 700 kg of weight. Also, note that wet wood can be slippery, so be extra careful when stepping in or out.
🪨 Option 4: Gravel
Gravel offers excellent drainage and a natural look.
-
Prevents water pooling
-
Ideal for wet areas or frequent draining
-
Comes in many colors and textures
Use honeycomb mats, pavers, or concrete slabs under the key load-bearing areas. Loose gravel alone isn’t stable enough.
⏳ Don’t Forget Power
If you're installing an IceSauna or a tub, be sure to arrange an outdoor power source before delivery.
We recommend using a certified electrician to install the outlet according to safety standards.
