Rust in your Icetub - How to get rid of it
🛡️ The Strength of Stainless Steel 304
Every Icetub is made with Stainless Steel 304 — a premium, marine-grade material prized for its high resistance to corrosion and rust.
However, as a natural product, even 304 stainless steel can sometimes show signs of surface rust, especially if exposed to environmental or chemical stress.
It’s important to understand that it’s not the stainless steel itself rusting.
Tiny particles like dirt, debris, or mineral buildup can attach to the surface and rust independently.
⚡ Common Causes of Rust (Outside of Warranty)
Rust formation is often linked to external factors beyond manufacturing defects.
These include:
-
Proximity to coastal air or saltwater.
-
Use of harsh cleaning chemicals is not recommended for stainless steel.
-
Adding chlorine or salts to the water.
-
Outdoor exposure to rain, humidity, or extreme conditions without protection.
Please carefully review our Warranty Terms to understand which cases are covered.
🛡️ Preventing Rust
Keeping your Icetub clean and well-maintained can significantly reduce the chance of surface rust. Here’s how to protect your tub:
-
Clean with Stainless Steel Cleaner
After draining the tub, spray a stainless steel cleaner evenly across the surface. -
Wipe with Stainless Steel Cleaner Wipes
Thoroughly wipe down all areas to remove residue, oils, and any contaminants. -
Dry with a Stainless Steel Wipe Cloth
Use a microfiber cloth to dry and polish the surface until it shines. -
Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse off any remaining cleaner with clean, chlorine-free water. -
Ready to Refill
Your Icetub is now ready for use!
Note: These steps can also be applied to your Cooling Engine Protector to keep it clean and rust-free.
Important: Never use salts, chlorine, or chemical additives, as these can damage the stainless steel surfaces.
Keep Your Water Clean:
Use our recommended Aqua Finesse cleaning liquid to eliminate bacteria and maintain cleaner water longer.
🧹 Removing Rust
If you’re already seeing surface rust, don’t worry, it’s easily fixable!
The rust you’re seeing is not from the stainless steel itself, but from microscopic particles stuck to the surface.
Here’s how to remove it:
-
Mild Cleaning
Use common household items like baking soda, dish soap, and lemon juice.
Follow this easy step-by-step guide to gently remove the rust. -
Stronger Cleaning
For tougher spots, we recommend using a specialized Rust Remover that both removes existing rust and adds a protective layer to help prevent future build-up.
After cleaning, always rinse thoroughly and wipe the surface dry.
